Open Government Partnership

Slovakia has become a member of the Open Government Partnership Initiative by sending a letter of intent to participate in the Initiative, signed by our Prime Minister Iveta Radičová. Slovakia was formally admitted as a member of the Initiative on 21 September 2011 in New York. Like other OGP members, we must now develop and deliver our open government action plan. Once finalized, we will announce our action plan at OGP Annual Meeting in Brazil, scheduled for 16-18 April 2012.

Strategy of Civil Society Development in Slovakia

The objective of the Strategy of Civil Society Development in Slovakia is to analyze the current status of civil society in Slovakia, identify priorities for its development and propose actions to promote cooperation between state administrative authorities and civil society.

This Strategy provides a basic framework and overview of priority areas for the development of civil society, in which the State and public administration in Slovakia should be active. This document provides basic arguments to support civil society and ensure cooperation between the State and NGOs. It pays particular attention to four areas, in which it proposes actions to be taken by public administration: cooperation between public administration and NGOs; provide support to active citizens and social capital; provide support to public discussion on major social issues; and promote open governance and transparent administration of public matters and civil society. Priorities that must be implemented to ensure development in each area are provided until 2020.

Action Plan for 2012 and 2013 forms part of the plan.
